PA launches exciting new internship!

There is a new internship opportunity available with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This program, entitled “Commonwealth Public Service Intern,” is a paid ($14.03/hour), six-month internship, which provides a flexible pathway for college students to advance from this internship program to Commonwealth employment in a variety of occupations. Following successful completion of this program, students may be promoted to a full-time, permanent position with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania!

To qualify, students must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited bachelor’s degree program and have satisfactory completion of 65 credits, including 12 credits (or a minimum of four courses) in their major field of study. They also need authorization from their school to participate in this program. Many state agencies have committed to hiring Commonwealth Public Service Interns in the spring/summer of 2016, with an anticipated start date in early June. Most positions will be in the Harrisburg area (Dauphin County); however, there will be select opportunities available throughout the state.

Additional information regarding Commonwealth Public Service Intern, including a general description of the type of work and how to apply, can be found on the Civil Service website at www.scsc.pa.gov, by clicking on Job Seekers, Open Test Announcements, and then selecting the Internships and Summer Employment category. Commonwealth Public Service Intern is featured under that category. A promotional trifold brochure regarding these opportunities is also attached.

Students may apply online through the Online Services section of the Civil Service website. Questions regarding this program can be directed to ra-csinternquestions@pa.gov or (717) 214-4649.
