Fall 2015 Career Connections Expo

During the summer, I'm sure all of you are relaxing by the beach or riverside, but I'm sure you miss being at Bloomsburg too! I know after a while at home, I start to miss Bloom and all the friends I made. In just two months the fall semester is here! I'll give you a heads up on something note-worthy for your calendars.

On Tuesday, Nov. 3 there will be a Career Connections Expo held in the Kehr Union. I know I am looking for more ways to network or just broaden my horizons. So for any of you, juniors and seniors especially, looking for internships or future jobs, stop by the expo! At the expo, there will be more than 60 organizations recruiting to fill positions for all majors. When you get all settled back at Bloom, don't forget to check Husky Career Link for more details and registration. We look forward to seeing you!

Walking into my junior year of college, I am starting to look for internships. I've talked to my parents about going for internships in areas where I am interested in either commuting to or living during the that time frame. Two places came to mind: Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. During my work-study position at the CPDCE, I recently entered data for several new internships from The Smithsonian Museums in Washington D.C. Most of them seemed very interesting to me and not only that, but I would get to live in D.C. as well!

You can check them out on Husky Career Link!

The Democratic National Committee is offering an internship program for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. The internship will be located in Washington, D.C.

This program provides a unique opportunity
for hardworking, passionate future leaders
to gain hands-on experience in Democratic
politics, strengthen their understanding
of the political process and prepare for the
political opportunities. In addition to typical
intern duties, interns will have the chance to
volunteer in community outreach projects
and grassroots organizing, assist at DNC

Achieving the LinkedIn summary

If you have yet to read our blog post "What's the Big Deal about LinkedIn?" it will inform you on the benefits of creating and having a LinkedIn account. So if you don't have one, you might want to hop on the bandwagon. Yes, I do happen to have a LinkedIn account myself. I update whenever something new with my studies or job-life occurs.

Writer, Lily Zhang, of The Muse write "3 brilliant LinkedIn summaries that will inspire you to update yours." It definitely had me thinking when I read this article. Here are three tips when writing your LinkedIn summary: make sure your personality shines through, make sure you have a strong pick-up line, and make sure you connect all the dots.

Turn Your Internship into a Full-Time Job!

Coming this fall, I will be working my first internship as a marketing and graphic design intern. As my employer explained what my responsibilities would be, it only made me more eager to start the internship. Maybe, if I'm lucky, it will become my full-time job! Looking forward to my internship, I just so happened to read an article written by CEO of Chegg, Dan Rosenweig, suggesting three ways to turn an internship into a full-time job: pursue every opportunity, earn trust by seizing the small stuff, and always be thinking of ways to remain innovative.

Lots of great info for any of you doing a summer or fall internship. I recommend it! Click here to read.
